CIS - VIA Rail Male Athlete of the Week Weicker of Brock honoured
March 9, 2005
OTTAWA (CIS) – Volleyball player Melissa Raymond, from the Sherbrooke Vert & Or, and wrestler Ryan Weicker, from the Brock Badgers, are the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) - VIA Rail female and male athletes of the week for the period ending March 6, 2005.
Weicker, a fifth-year sport management student from St. Catherines, Ont. was named CIS Outstanding wrestler of the year for the second time in his career after becoming the first wrestler in CIS history to claim an indivual gold medal at the university nationals for a fifth straight season.

Ryan Weicker made history at the CIS championship becoming the first wrestler to capture an individual gold medal in five consecutive seasons. The St. Catherines, Ont. native was crowned champion in the 65 kg division, helping the Badger men increase their record streak of consecutive CIS banners to seven.
Weicker, who has lost only one match in five years at OUA and CIS championships, was previously national CIS gold medallist in the 68 kg division in 2004, 2002 and 2001, and at 68 kilos in 2003.

OTTAWA (SIC) – La volleyeuse Mélissa Raymond, du Vert & Or de Sherbrooke, et le lutteur Ryan Weicker, des Badgers de Brock, sont les récipiendaires des titres d’athlètes de la semaine féminin et masculin VIA Rail de Sport interuniversitaire canadien (SIC), pour la période se terminant le 6 mars 2005.
Weicker, étudiant de cinquième année en administration du sport originaire de St. Catherines, Ont., a été nommé lutteur de l’année de SIC après être devenu le premier lutteur de l’histoire de SIC à mériter une médaille d’or individuelle au championnat national universitaire pour une cinquième saison consécutive.

Ryan Weicker est passé à l’histoire au championnat de SIC en devenant le premier lutteur à décrocher une médaille d’or individuelle pour une cinquième saison consécutive. L’athlète de St. Catharines, Ont., a été couronné chez les 65 kg, aidant les Badgers a porté leur série record à sept bannières masculines de SIC consécutives.
Weicker, qui n’a perdu qu’un combat en cinq ans lors des championnats de SUO et de SIC, avait déjà été sacré champion national chez les 65 kg en 2004, 2002 et 2001, de même que chez les 68 kilos en 2003.

SUCCESS FOR GAELS AT McGILL LAST CHANCE

Feb 06, 2010: Mallie, Jean, Robertson, Childs posts wins in Winnipeg. Dan Mallie won the 1000m in 2:26 to lead Victoria to four wins at Bison. Claire Jean (4:34) won the women's 1500m, rookie Karl Roberson (3:55) won the 1500m and Cliff Childs (8:34) won the 3000m.
