This Weekend in CIS Cross Country
19 Sep, 2008 -- This Weekend in CIS Cross Country CIS Cross Country gets rolling this weekend as 18 schools compete at 4 different competitions. Manitoba gets the weekend off to a flying start as they do a little cross boarder invasion of North Dakota on Friday September 19th, where they will compete in the Ron Pynn Invitational. This meet take place on the Ray Richards Golf Course and his hosted by the University of North Dakota. The racing gets underway at 4 p.m. with the women's run, followed by the men at 4:45 p.m. On Saturday the University of Regina welcome their prairie rivals as Saskatchewan and Alberta come to town to take part in the Cougar Trot at Wascana Park. Out east UNB host St. FX, Acadia, Dalhousie and Moncton at Odell Park in the second AUS League meet of the season. In Ontario, all eyes are on The University of Western Ontario and the historic Thames Valley Golf Course in London. Western has hosted this event for 34 consecutive years and with this being the 23rd year at the Thames Valley course, several generation of runners of runners have traversed the spectator friendly layout in search of a spot on the champions hill. This meet has traditionally served as the early season barometer for all the OUA schools and this year is no different as: York, Queen’s, Toronto, Windsor, Western, Guelph, McMaster, Laurier, Brock and Laurentian will all toe the line. McGill is the Lone QSSF school competing this weekend as they will also be competing in the Western International. Race times are 10am for the women’s 5k and 10:50 for the men’s 10k.
